You don't necessarily need to purchase expensive specialist tools and materials to build a worthy guitar. A key feature of my unique Make an acoustic guitar DVD, is that low cost, readily available tools and materials can be used.
You may already own some tools, but here are some recommended tools and materials which you will need in order to build a Jez Broun guitar and which are fully featured on the DVD.
Tenon saw
Essential for cutting wood accurately. The teeth are finer than on a Jack or handsaw.
Combination Square
Combines a steel rule for measuring with a right angle and mitre square. re accurate
1/2" chisel
Bevel edged, for various shaping & Trimming tasks. Consider 1/4" & 3/4"
Marking gauge
A traditional tool for marking parallel lines for joints and other features.
Smoothing plane
2" wide blade. Essential tool for all woodworking and a good size for beginners.
For marking out varying angles such as the neck dovetail joint.
Spokeshave (curved)
For shaping the neck
Rasps

Shark Pullsaw
26 tips per inch for very fine work.

Bandsaw
A highly versatile machine and great investment for the workshop. A boon for guitar making. Highly recommended and featured in the DVD. Quiet & safe.

Materials
Jigsaw
Extremely versatile. Use a fine toothed blade for guitar making. Ideally stretch your budget and buy a bandsaw as it will speed up various tasks and be a lot easier and precise.
